I believe that having a solid relationship with my students and their parents is important. I'll start us off with some information about me!
I was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan. While growing up, I participated in various extra-curricular activities while attending Muskegon Catholic Central Schools. I tried almost every sport offered but ultimately found my passion in performing on stage. I have been dancing since I was two, picked up singing somewhere along the line, and began acting seriously after a trip to New York City!
I started my "teaching" phase early on by directing and choreographing dances for my friends and I to perform for summer camp and school talent shows. This experience has helped me make the decision to become a teacher, something I always wanted to be but forgot when blinded by the stage lights. I continue to perform when I can but spend most of my time these days directing and teaching dance, acting, and fitness classes to children from 2 years old up to seniors in high school in after-school programs across West Michigan.
I spent a month this summer in London studying Theatre and Shakespeare at Kingston University. I was able to see fifteen performances and visit four additional countries. It was a phenomenal experience! I hope to take the knowledge I learn through my time at Grand Valley State University and at Kingston University and share it with my students as soon as I return. My goal as a teacher is to share my passion for active and dramatic learning with my students to help them find their own love and passion no matter what subject or topic it may be.
