Believe it or not, yesterday was my first trip to the city of Lansing. I have driven past Lansing a few times, and have visited friends in East Lansing, but like many of you, it was my first time visiting all of the museums and the State Capitol.
It was so much fun to take this trip with all of you. I loved trying out all of the activities at Impression 5, though I am sad my group did not make it to the Water Room. I took a few pamphlets to figure out how I can take my future classroom there for a field trip when I have my own classroom.
I love learning about history, so the Michigan Historical Museum was fantastic! Checking out what all of the homes and popular items looked like in each of the the different eras was so cool! I cannot decide which room I liked more. The 50's living room reminded me of my Grandparents' house, the cars from the 60's reminded me of Hairspray, and the Motown Music room was just awesome because it was all about music! There was so much to see!
I wonder what items will be in a museum 50 years from now when they are remembering 2000-2010 and 2010-2020. What do you think will be there? Please leave me a comment with your thoughts!
I also really loved our visit to the Capitol Building. we had a great tour guide who kept us on our toes. I think my favorite part of the Capitol Tour was laying down on the floor and looking up at the stars on the top of the dome to remind us all to "reach for the stars!" That is one of my favorite quotes, I hope you all take it to heart.
