Happy Sunday!
As you know, our class has a goal of reading at least 55 minutes a day throughout the month of April. This includes spring break! One of the reasons I love spring break so much is because I have extra time to sit down in a quiet place and read.
Usually when I am on spring break, I bring 2 or three different books with me on my trip. I can read in the car or on the plane for a little bit until I get dizzy or fall asleep. I love to read when I'm sitting by the pool or when I am on the beach. Reading also helps me to relax before going to bed.
This past Christmas I felt like the luckiest teacher in the world when I was gifted over 100 books for my future classroom! I was so excited, I cried! I have not had a chance to read all of them yet, so I'm hoping to read one or two of them this week.
The book I started last night is called "The Lemonade War" by Jacqueline Davies. One of the reasons I chose to read this book is because the author has the same name as me. :-) Also, I always used to sell lemonade over the summer when I was little, so I think I will be able to connect to this book very well. This is the first book of the Lemonade War series, so if I like it I might have to find the rest of the books!
My challenge for you today is to find a new book to read over spring break. You can visit the local library where you are staying, check your grandma's bookshelf, pick up one at a store, or check your hotel/resort concierge. Sometimes people leave books for others to rent and read. Comment to let me know what book you are going to read. After you are done reading the book, come back and type a second comment that includes a short summary and rating. I'll be sure to check out the books you are reading and, if you like it a lot, I might even add it to my classroom wishlist.
Happy Reading!
